ELECTS NEW 2006 OFFICERS

On November 4-5, 2005 the annual AWGA Retreat for the Board of Directors was held at Moon Valley Country Club with a focus on defining goals for the organization and to elect officers for the 2006 year. Twelve women, current and past professionals in the business community, hold the leadership positions in the second largest women’s golf association in the country. Their expertise in various fields coupled with their knowledge of the game and their involvement in women’s golf have been instrumental in guiding the association to promote the best interests and true spirit of golf among women in Arizona.

The newly elected officers for the AWGA are:
Betsy Paul, President, Moon Valley Country Club
Chris Giza, Vice President, Dobson Ranch Golf Club
Barbara Byrnes, Treasurer, Red Mountain Ranch Golf Club

Their combined experience represents thirteen years of service to the AWGA Board of Directors. As officers of the AWGA, they comprise the Executive Committee who, along with the remainder of the Board of Directors, are responsible for the overall policies and procedures set for the organization. In addition, they direct the committees that oversee the coordination of all member benefits, including course rating and handicap service, state championships, and other business of the association.

The complete roster of the Board and their respective responsibilities include Katherine Olson, Immediate Past President, Dobson Ranch Golf Club; Sandy Jacobson, Tournaments, Starr Pass Country Club; Linda Dalsin, Rules, Aspen Valley Country Club; Barbara Simmons, Arizona Country Club, Course Rating; Norma Scuri, Antelope Hills Golf Club, Membership; Kathy Ehrlich, Silverleaf Golf Club, Sponsorship.

The AWGA looks forward to another year of progress in building the organization for the advancement of women’s golf in Arizona.
