Competitive Women's Programs

The AWGA provides staff and monetary support for a number of competitive women's programs, including:

AWGA State Championships
The AWGA conducts four state championships each year to identify the best women amateur golfers in Arizona. They are the Stroke Play, the Match Play, the Four-Ball, and the Senior Stroke Play Championships. Players' entry fees are used to compensate the facilities and to provide gift certificate prize funds. The AWGA relies on your support to fund the balance of the cost to present the Championships.

National Qualifiers
The AWGA conducts and assists USGA Committee members in conducting our local and sectional qualifiers for USGA Championships:

  • U.S. Women's Open Qualifier
  • U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifier
  • U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Qualifier
  • U.S. Women's Four-Ball Qualifier
  • U.S. Senior Women's Amateur Qualifier

Arizona Silver Belle Championship
The Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championship is run by dedicated, hardworking and golf-loving volunteers. Their mission is to continue the rich tradition, since 1971, of hosting the nation's leading golf championship, open to top young women amateurs. The Silver Belle is a nationally ranked championship, which draws young women from all over the nation to compete in our state. The field is limited to 96 female golfers between the ages of 13-23. The AWGA provides staff and other support for this Championship every year.
