AWGA Golf 101/201 Lesson Program

This is a program designed to introduce new women golfers to the game and keep them in the game. Key relationships are established between the women who play regularly at a specific golf course and the LPGA or PGA Professional at that same course. Since 2006 the program has graduated over 1,400 students.

Through this relationship, the golf teaching professional and the experienced women golfers (Ambassadors) work together to create an environment where women with little or no experience can come out and learn everything from how the game is played, to swing and playing basics, to establishing relationships within the golf community that will help them feel comfortable navigating the golf course on their own. The program fee is $220 for all six sessions. If you have golf clubs go ahead and bring them but if not don't worry, you'll be able to borrow some. All you need to bring with you is your enthusiasm to learn the game of golf!

Golf 101 includes:

  • Six lessons, one hour each
  • Lessons taught by an LPGA/PGA Teaching Professional
  • Learning how to chip, putt, pitch, full swing, and hit bunker shots
  • AWGA Ambassador support to teach the rules and etiquette of golf
  • Practice time and on-course instruction and play
  • 1 year Recreational Membership to the Arizona Women's Golf Association, which includes:
    • Newsletters and other publications to keep you informed about the game of golf

    Teaching Professional: Lynn McNee
Lynn is a Class A LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Member with over 20 years of experience. She grew up in a golfing family in Michigan and was exposed to the game at an early age. She played collegiate golf at Ferris State while enrolled in the Profesional Golf Management program. After college she moved to Arizona and has been working in the golf business around the Phoenix area for the past 15 years. She has worked in all areas of the business but teaching golf has always been Lynn's true passion. Golf is a difficult game because it's counterintuitive. It goes against common sense and it's backwards to everything you know! This makes the learning process very difficult and can make taking a lesson an overwhelming experience. Lynn uses a simple, yet effective, way of communication to help understand and "own" the information so that you can play to your true potential.
